Job Overview/Summary

As a Scientist II in Global Stewardship you will be responsible for driving the continuous improvement of regulatory processes, systems, and strategies to facilitate chemicals management compliance for a global organization. You will lead the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Chemicals Management Program elements to support a broad CPG product portfolio that includes antimicrobials, cleaning products, cosmetics, water filtration, and cat litter, among others. You will manage safety data sheet (SDS) authoring, compliance with chemical control laws, development of product and raw material ingredient assessments, facilitate required reporting, and lead process improvements. You will work in a collaborative environment in close partnership with individuals in Product Development, Product Supply, Sales, Consumer Affairs, and Corporate Communication.

Key Responsibilities

You will work in a collaborative environment in close partnership with individuals in Product Development, Product Supply, Sales, Consumer Affairs, and Corporate Communication.

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute on compliance requirements across the chemicals management program, including GHS compliant SDS authoring, product formulation review against global chemical inventories, volume tracking and reporting, and ingredient disclosure, among others
  • Evolve existing Hazard Communication program responsibilities to streamline support for global businesses (e.g., GHS SDS)
  • With manager support, develop Ingredient Management program to support emerging requirements in ingredient disclosure.
  • Execute against project and product certification requirements (e.g., Safer Choice, USDA Biopreferred, etc.)
  • Assess systems and drive process improvement for global chemical control and reporting requirements (e.g., TSCA, DSL, volume tracking)
  • Support implementation of Data Management systems to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory trends that affect Clorox businesses, including national & global chemical control requirements

Years and Type of Experience:

3-5 years of experience in either a regulatory, product stewardship, or related technical field, with preference given to consumer products experience.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in chemicals management including managing product compliance with global chemical inventories and independent management of hazard communication requirements (e.g., GHS classification, SDS authoring)
  • Demonstrated capabilities in developing systems to collect, manage and report chemical data for global compliance; experience in creating data systems a plus
  • Proven history of independent thought leadership within a team environment
  • Strong technical and communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence people, policy and opinion within an organization
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external business partners in an effort to facilitate effective communication and integration of business needs
  • Knowledge of industrial organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and basic toxicological endpoints and product development experience desirable

Education Level/Degree:

BS, MS or PhD in Life Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent.

Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or Equivalent
